Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup butter soft
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder optional
  • 1 cup cold water added slowly
Jam Filling
  • 1 cup jam strawberry pineapple, or guava

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter and shortening until crumb-like.
  3. Add cold water slowly until dough forms.
  4. Wrap dough and rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle on floured surface.
  6. Spread jam evenly, leaving space at edges.
  7. Roll dough into a log and seal edges.
  8. Place on baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes.
  10. Cool fully before slicing.

Notes

This Belizean jam roll recipe tastes best when fully cooled before slicing.
Avoid overfilling with jam to prevent leaks.
Guava jam gives the most traditional flavor.
